“Go Therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.”Matthew 28:19
Meet Rev. Veronica Greanead
Hello! My name is Veronica Greanead. (Pronounced like “grenade.”) People in the congregation call me “Pastor Veronica” and you are welcome to do that as well. I am truly blessed to serve as the Senior Pastor of this congregation. I began my ministry here in July of 2014.
I consider myself a small town country girl and grew up about 15 miles from Alvord in Forestburg, Texas. My first career was in education beginning in 1987. I worked 13 years as a special education teacher before pursuing my call to ministry. God first nudged me to become a Lay speaker in the church and later I took a leap of faith to attend seminary at Perkins School of Theology and graduated in 2002 to go into full time ministry. I have also served as an associate at FUMC of Whitesboro and Nocona, and senior pastor of Methodist churches in Callisburg, Avery, Williams Chapel of English, and Westview UMC of Greenville. I was ordained an Elder of the North Texas Conference in 2009.
I became a pastor because God’s love abounds for me and God’s grace has been present in my life in so many ways and I want everyone to realize that too for themselves. I divorced in 1991 and have been a single mom to my son, Philip, all his life. God has carried me through the hard and tough times and has provided me with strength and stamina. God has also gifted me in so many ways. I am truly blessed to be a servant of Jesus Christ.
I am extremely excited about serving the community of Alvord. This congregation has put forth a vision to nurture children and I love children. I look forward to seeing children and youth growing in their love and knowledge of Jesus Christ and discovering the value and worth that God grants to them and developing persons into faithful servants of Jesus Christ.
In my free time I love to stay active. I spend a lot of time walking or jogging, and doing yard work. I also like bowling, tennis, basketball, and fishing but don’t get a chance to do that as much. I enjoying going to local ball games as well.
I write poetry and have volumes that I can share with you.
Most importantly, I love spending time with family and friends.
