The word Advent means “the coming.” Starting four Sundays before Christmas Eve is what we call the Advent season. This time is for celebrating the birth of Jesus the Christ in his first “coming” AND the hopeful anticipation of his second “coming” as Christ the King. We believe that God was born as Jesus and God will come again as Christ. We live as “in-between” people.
Advent season is a time for us to be reminded of God’s presence throughout our lives. It is a time to be reminded that our lives are more than that “thing” that happens between the dashes on a tombstone. Our births, lives, and deaths are miraculous!
Advent is coming! Let’s be reminded of the hope, peace, joy, and love that comes from God who was, is, and will be with us – Emmanuel.
