Are you ready? Are you ready for the death of love? Are you ready to consider how you might contribute to the death of love in your brother and sisters? We often go from the celebration of Palm Sunday to the celebration of Easter without considering what happened between the two.

Jesus came teaching the spirit of the law over the letter of the law, compassion over judgement, servanthood over power. This was not a popular point of view. The challenge to established ways of operation brought about frustration, disappointment, mistrust and anger. Gone unchecked these feelings escalated into hate and hate brought about murder.

Easter Sunday is the day we celebrate that Jesus rose from the dead. But how much can we celebrate if we are not willing to sit in the honesty of our human weaknesses and fear? Consider asking yourself, “How do I react when what I established, endorse or enjoy are called into question? What is my first impulse? How do my fears drive my relationships and choices?” Being self-aware opens us to the death of our own destruction so God can bring new life within our hearts and minds. Paul said that we must die to self to be raised from the dead.

Easter is our hope and our joy. May each of us be ready to experience the resurrection of Christ before and within us.
